This small seabird is a replica of one that graces the dust cover of the book by Robert Bishop, “American Folk Sculpture”, and on page 176, figure 320 of the same book. Carved and painted by Wayne Ayers.

1930’s doll made from large sock or stocking. She’s exquisite in overall appearance, with facial features created with colored thread. Her nose and ears are made from stitching and stand away from her head. Loop earrings. She is very well dressed in a peasant dress, apron, petticoat and elastic waist bloomers with matching lace. Her felt shoes have laces. *tiny hole in stocking near one eye.
